Italian 1
This course is for the beginner student with no knowledge of Italian. After completion, the participants will be able to speak in present tense and be able to read and write basic sentences. This course approximately covers the first three chapters in the Prego, 6th edition textbook.
Italian 2
Students will build upon Italian 1 and learn more vocabulary and grammar so they will be able to speak more about basic everyday situations. Students will also be using past tense. This course approximately covers chapters four through six in the Prego, 6th edition textbook.
Speaking and Reinforcing Practical Italian
In this course you will reinforce some of the more challenging aspects presented in Italian 1 and Italian 2. Doing so will help you use these principals in conversation, strengthening your speaking skills.
Italian 3
Continuing on the previous courses (Italian 1 and italian 2), students will be increasing their proficiency and will be able to speak about basic situations using present, past and future tenses. This course approximately covers chapters seven through ten in the Prego, 6th edition textbook.
Ricette Per Parlare
Italian 3 required. This class will increase familiarity with forms already introduced in Italian 1, Italian 2, and Italian 3. It will enrich and develop your vocabulary, as you become increasingly comfortable, while speaking through regular in-class practice. Through a range of activities — conversation, listening and comprehension, games, reading and interpretation — you will advance as a speaker.
Intermediate 1
Coming after In Conversation or Italian 3, this course will enable students to gain a deeper understanding of grammar concepts. Students will read short stories and engage in conversation. This course approximately covers chapters ten through twelve in the Prego, 6th edition textbook.
Intermediate 2
Following Intermediate 1, this course will continue building on grammar concepts. At the same time, students will improve their listening, comprehension and speaking skills. This course approximately covers chapters twelve through fourteen in the Prego, 6th edition textbook.
Intermediate 3
Coming after Intermediate 2, this course will continue working on increasingly difficult grammar concepts. Students will engage in conversation and can give small oral presentations to the class on a topic of their choice. This course approximately covers chapters fourteen through seventeen in the Prego, 6th edition textbook.
Intermediate 4
Following Intermediate 3, this course concludes the study of Italian grammar from the Prego textbook. Students will further enrich their vocabulary and will be able to hold conversations about everyday life. This course serves as an entry to the advanced levels. This course approximately covers chapters seventeen through eighteen in the Prego, 6th edition textbook.
Intermediate Review & Conversation
Following Intermediate 4, this course reviews some of the most challenging grammar concepts covered in Intermediate 1 through 4. It is also an excellent chance to practice conversation while learning more vocabulary.
Advanced 2
For students with conversational ability who want to reinforce their understanding of Italian grammar, practice reading and speaking and expand their vocabulary. With this course will we build upon Advanced 1 adding in the more challenging concepts. Students will be encouraged to discuss literature, articles, Italian culture, etc. The course is based on the Da Capo textbook, 6th edition, and covers approximately four chapters.
Advanced 3
For students with conversational ability who want to reinforce their understanding of Italian grammar, practice reading and speaking and expand their vocabulary. With this course will we build upon Advanced 2 adding in the more challenging concepts. Students will be encouraged to discuss literature, articles, Italian culture, etc. The course is based on the Da Capo textbook, 6th edition, and covers approximately four chapters.
In Conversation
Requires Advanced 4 or equivalent. This course follows the series based on the Da Capo textbook. With this course will we build upon Advanced 3 adding in the more challenging concepts. You will review Intermediate — level speaking skills through regular practice and oral presentations. If needed, you may also spend class time reviewing some grammatical principles. Instructors make use of multimedia to teach and reinforce lessons. Doing so will make each class lively, varied, and engaging.
